Velodrome aero testing
At race speed, about four-fifths of your effort goes into pushing air aside. We measure your drag on the velodrome — your bike, your positions, your real effort — and tell you in plain words what to change and what it's worth.

What you get
Every position we test is translated into watts at your race speed and seconds over your race distance. No spreadsheets to decode.
Baseline against every change we test — hands, helmet, back angle, equipment. You see exactly which change paid and which didn't.
Plain language first, with a confidence rating on every result — and if a difference is inside the test's margin, we say so instead of selling you noise. The full technical data is one tap away, never in your way.

What we test
Hand placement, arm width, back angle, head and shoulder position — the biggest lever most riders have, and free to change.
Helmets, wheels, skinsuits, bottles and hydration, extensions. We test what you own against what you're considering.
Body, bike and kit interact. We measure them together, at your speed, in the position you can actually hold — not in isolation.
Test day
Your event, your speed, what you're willing to change. We plan the positions and equipment worth testing.
Repeated flying laps on the velodrome with calibrated power and speed sensors. You just ride — we handle the protocol and the maths.
One change at a time, so every result is attributable. A fitter checks you can hold and ride each position safely.
Before you leave the track, you know your fastest setup, what it saves, and how confident we are in each number.
Why the velodrome
The velodrome is the sweet spot for aero testing: repeatable and sheltered like a wind tunnel, but measuring the real you — moving legs, real effort, the position you can hold at race speed.
A tunnel measures a frozen pose for a moment. The velodrome measures you riding — pedalling, breathing, holding the position that actually matters on race day.
Open-road runs fight traffic, gusts and gradients. On the track we control the surface, shelter the wind and repeat every run, so a 5-watt change actually shows up.
Apps estimate drag from your own ride data — only as good as the protocol. We control the runs, the conditions and the analysis, and a fitter checks every faster position for comfort, power and handling. Fast you can't sustain isn't fast.

Velodrome aero testing from the team behind Bike Fit Europe — professional bike fitting for road, triathlon and time trial. Position changes are grounded in biomechanics, not just drag numbers.
FAQ
We repeat every run and report a confidence range, not a single number. When a change is inside the test's margin, we tell you it's too close to call rather than overselling it.
Your race bike and the kit you want tested — helmets, skinsuits, wheels. A power meter helps; if you don't have one, ask us when you book.
Typically four to six setups in a session, each measured against your baseline. We prioritise the changes most likely to pay for your event.
We're bike fitters first. Every faster position is checked for the power and comfort you can actually sustain — not just the lowest drag number.
